Graphic Designer Resume — portfolio-first guidance
A graphic designer resume that supports your portfolio: project evidence, tools, process and the work behind the outcomes.
For designers the portfolio does the persuading; the resume does the contextualising. Its job is to explain what you owned, who you worked with and what the work achieved.
Structure
- Header with portfolio URL prominently placed
- Summary — discipline, years, sectors
- Experience with the specific work you owned on each project
- Selected projects — name, client, role, outcome
- Tools — Figma, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, After Effects, Webflow
- Recognition or press where genuine
Example bullets
- Led the rebrand of a 40-product catalogue, delivering a system used across print and digital
- Designed an onboarding flow that improved first-session completion by 19%
- Art-directed a campaign across five channels with a two-week production window
Format choice
A creative template is appropriate when you are applying to studios and design teams. For in-house roles at larger employers, and for any portal submission, an ATS template with your portfolio link in the header is safer.
